Job Description:

Parent to Parent is a nationwide not-for-profit organisation formed in 1983 by parents and professionals to support the families of children, teens and adults with any type of disability or health impairment.

We support families and whanau across New Zealand by informing, connecting, inspiring, educating and supporting, as they navigate their way through the experience of raising a child with a disability or health impairment. Our core services include a parent support matching service, an information service, parent training courses and sibling support programs.  We also work in partnership with other organisations to provide the Altogether Autism and Care Matters services nationally.

Parent to Parent has a rich history as a grassroots organisation, an agent for social change and as an aspirational support and information service for families affected by disability.  As an organisation it is highly respected within the disability sector, representing the voice of parents and whanau on national advisory groups and government departments such as the Ministry of Health and Disability Support Services.

We have been an active contributor to the Enabling Good Lives approach to supporting disabled people and their families and the System Transformation work currently underway within disability support services in NZ.

Parent to Parent has an unequivocal commitment to respecting the rights of families with a disabled family member and supporting them to fully participate in everyday community life in alignment with the New Zealand Disability Strategy.

  • Lead the development and implementation of a robust communications strategy both internally and externally to inform and engage staff, members, stakeholders, other organisations and the general community about the work and activities of Parent to Parent
  • Develop and maintain an organisational and management structure at national and local level within budget parameters that will allow Parent to Parent to meet contractual obligations, achieve its objectives and provide appropriate service and support for its members and service users
